Transforming Research in Neglect with Extended Reality
Uniting from clinicians, researchers, XR developers, and patient representatives across Europe to innovate diagnosis and treatment for spatial neglect.
Funded by the European Cooperation in Science & Technology
COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) is a funding agency for research and innovation networks. Our Actions help connect research initiatives across Europe and enable scientists to grow their ideas by sharing them with their peers. This boosts their research, career and innovation.

The COST Action “Extended Reality Neurorehabilitation of Spatial Neglect and Related Disorders After Brain Injury” was launched on September 24th, providing a common communication network for clinicians, researchers, XR developers and patient representatives.
Working Group 1 coordinates a comprehensive meta-study to synthesize the latest evidence to inform ongoing efforts to standardize treatment and assessment with XR in Working Group 2 and 3.
The findings from the review of XR methods informs the ongoing efforts to define hardware-agnostic XR assessment in Working Group 2 and XR treatment in Working Group 3.
In this stage, the network aims to finalize guidelines for diagnosis and treatment with XR. The guidelines are aimed towards clinical use and development of XR tools for rehabilitation.
Using the XR guidelines as a foundation, a multi-center study is planned that aims to evaluate XR’s clinical impact.
Do you use, research or develop XR for rehabilitation and neglect?
Our network is always looking for more members with relevant knowledge and expertise.
