Working Group 2
Assessment of spatial neglect and related disorders

Led by Dr Hanne Huygelier
Co-lead: Dr Daniele Romano
Aims
WG2 is organized into three sub-teams working toward a shared deliverable: a white paper outlining the requirements for XR-based methodologies and technologies to assess SN subtypes and related disorders. The group focuses on operationalizing XR approaches for assessment, with the goal of improving diagnostic accuracy across the diverse symptoms of SN, enabling clearer differentiation from related conditions, and establishing a set of common data elements.
Plan
WG2 operates through three sub-teams, each contributing to the development of its white paper:
- Stakeholder Engagement Team:
Conducts surveys with clinicians, developers, and patient representatives to identify XR-based assessment needs for SN. The findings directly inform the Delphi process and the white paper. - STSM Team:
Identifies and evaluates relevant Short-Term Scientific Missions (STSMs), supporting members in proposing and prioritizing site visits focused on XR treatment approaches for SN. - Delphi Study:
Leads a structured Delphi process, complemented by at least three expert roundtables, to build consensus on standardizing XR-based assessment methodologies.
Get Involved
Working Group 2 welcomes members with expertise in XR technology development, clinical and experimental neuropsychology, and psychometrics, as well as backgrounds in occupational therapy, physiotherapy, neurology, or data science.
Whether you are a researcher, clinician, developer, or patient advocate, if you are interested in shaping the future of XR-based assessment for spatial neglect, we would be delighted to hear from you.
